The Idea House
Each year, Coastal Living Magazine constructs special Idea Houses in hand-selected coastal communities that represent environmental consciousness and sensitivity to shoreline preservation. The Idea House celebrates the best in coastal home innovation, décor, and construction. Mark Saunders Luxury Homes was chosen by the magazine to build the home in Seawatch at Sunset Harbor. Nicole Hendrick, Idea Home Manager for Coastal Living, described the magazine’s coveted selection with, “Over the past 10 years we have been looking at what was happening in Brunswick County. Last year we looked at Seawatch at Sunset Harbor and Mark Saunders Luxury Homes, and it was love at first sight. They have a good vision for today and for generations to come, great architecture, a commitment to using sustainable products and to protect the environment…overall, they had it all.”
The 2009 Idea House is an original Cape design by Guidry-Coastal Architecture and built by master builder Mark Saunders Luxury Homes in the Tidal Village of Victoria. This impressive homesite is located on a beautiful bluff overlooking the peaceful tidal waters of Mercer Mill Creek and lush wildlife preserve areas.
Cape style architecture had its beginnings in the Boston area in the early 1880s and is recognizable by its gambrel and bell-shaped roofs, generous porches, and free flowing living spaces. The Seawatch Coastal Living 2009 Idea House features these traditional aspects with a relevant new coastal Carolina approach, including Mark Saunders Luxury Homes’ signature five-sided architecture which features unmatched detail and creativity from every angle.
The Coastal Living Idea House finished its 13-week run for open house tours and was displayed in the October 2009 edition of Coastal Living Magazine. During this time money was raised from ticket proceeds to donate to the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina. Members of the Idea House team presented the charitable organization with a check for $25,738.61.
